The West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, on Saturday said she has ordered an inquiry into the sudden rise in price of essential commodities and vegetables.
The inquiry was ordered after she paid a surprise visit to three of the city markets. Stating that climatic conditions should not be attributed to the price rise, she put the onus of the hike on “hoarders and unscrupulous traders.”
According to the Chief Minister, price rise would be discussed at a meeting scheduled on July 2.
