Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development Minister G Srinivasa Rao said here on Tuesday that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was responsible for the inordinate delay in the beginning of the EAMCET counselling process in the State.
Political issueHe said in an interview that Chandrasekhar Rao was making it a political issue and “is holding over nine lakh students across both the States to ransom.” The Telangana Government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to extend the date of counselling in response to which the AP Government had filed a writ petition. The Apex Court had instructed the AP Government to file a fresh one. “We will file it shortly and the date of hearing has been postponed to August 4,” he said.
However, before the hearing date, the Minister plans to lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi to meet Home Minister Rajnath Singh and HRD Minister Smriti Irani. “We will be leaving for New Delhi in a day or two. I have already sent word to political parties in the State such as Congress, YSRC and the left parties,” he said.
Nativity issueHe said the AP Government had expected the Telangana Government to adhere to the AP Reorganisation Bill, but the latter was not doing so. On the nativity issue, he said that “the State Governments do not have the right to decide on the nativity issue. It is a constitutional matter and there is a presidential order. Moreover, there is a six-point formula, which clearly specifies the rules of nativity.”
He said that if 1956 was the cut-off date for nativity in Telengana, as stated by KCR, then the people living in the region from 1956 will become non-locals in AP. The Telangana CM was creating all sorts of hurdles by adopting such a stance in matters such as fee reimbursement for students, he added.
