Assam Government has prohibited strike by employees of oil sector in the state through a notification under the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act.
A government release here today said the notification would remain in force for a period of six months or until further orders, in exercise of powers conferred by section 3 of the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, 1980.
The notification prohibits strike of work by officers, workmen, contract labour, tanker drivers and also khalasis involved in the services in any oil field or refinery of any establishment or undertaking dealing with the production, supply or distribution of petroleum and petroleum products, including natural gas.
