Facebook reigns as the king of social networking sites amongst Coimbatore Gen Z (those born after 1995), notes the TCS Youth Survey 2015.
The survey conducted by the IT services major across 15 cities as part of the TCS IT Wiz Quiz, signals some interesting facts about Coimbatore Gen Z.
Commenting on the findings, the organisation’s Human Resources Head for Tamil Nadu – C Ramkumar said, “Gen Z youth of Coimbatore are socially collaborative, technologically aware, and true digital natives”.
According to him, such surveys help the company understand the professionals of tomorrow and aid in creating exciting career and learning opportunities for them.
While smartphones seemed the preferred digital gadget, Whatsapp stood out as the most popular instant messaging platform with 69 per cent of the respondents endorsing it.
Coimbatore Gen Z say “see you online”, highlights the findings with 77 per cent of the respondents spending over an hour online everyday and 36 per cent responding to notifications within five minutes of receipt of the same.
Further, 64 per cent of the respondents said they go online to speak to their parents and grandparents, and 18 per cent took the online route to complete school assignments.
These youngsters, who by and large are gadget freaks, indulge in buying electronic gadgets online, followed by books, the latter, mostly by girls, the survey notes.
