For the first time, Tamil Nadu reported over 1,000 Coronavirus positive cases in a day with 1,149 cases to take the total number past 22,000 cases to 22,333.
With 757 Covid-19 patients discharged on Sunday, a total of 12,757 persons have recovered. This leaves the number of active cases in the State at 9,400.
In Chennai alone, the number of persons infected on Sunday was 804; followed by Chengalpattu with 85 cases; Tiruvallur (47); Tiruvannamalai (45); Kancheepraum (16); Salem (13); Madurai (10) and the balance number distributed among other districts. There were 13 deaths taking the state's total to 173.
The number of blood samples tested on May 31 was 12,807.
The number of Covid-19 suspected individuals in isolation ward admission is 6,710, according to government data.
