The Federation of Traders’ Organisations (FTO) of West Bengal plans to organise a sit-in-protest on September 20 against the Government’s decision to allow foreign direct investment in retail.
The Federation has 50-60 lakh small traders in its fold. The FTO termed the Government’s move to hike diesel prices by Rs 5 a litre and allowing 74 per cent FDI in cable and DTH services as “undemocratic, unrealistic, against the national interest, anti-farmer, anti-consumer and anti-trader.”
