Globsyn Skills, a venture of the Globsyn Group, along with ManpowerGroup, a workforce expert for more than 65 years, organised a Joint Recruitment Drive at Kolkata last week. The objective was to provide employment opportunities to students who had undergone skills training at Globsyn Skills, under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), in sectors such as banking, retail and telecom. Over 23 companies, part of ManpowerGroup’s serviced network, participated in the drive, which resulted in 125 trainees being given job offers in one day.
Partnership
Globsyn Skills and ManpowerGroup have worked out a synergy, where the former is involved in skilling job aspirants while the latter contributes by bringing job opportunities to the recruitment platform. Globsyn Skills imparts the skill training and certifies its trainees according to standards and processes set out under an agreement with the National Skills Development Corporation.
A total of 286 trainees from several districts of West Bengal appeared for the drive, of which 125 were shortlisted for job offers by companies that included Dish TV, City Style, HTC, Samsung, State Bank of India, Airtel, Future Group, Kredent Academy, Skipper, Gati, Gourmont Showroom, IFB, Eureka Forbes and E-Trans Solutions.
Rahul Dasgupta, Managing Director, Globsyn Skills, underscored the need to create training programmes geared towards meeting industry requirements at various levels, stating, “The issue of sustainability (of skills development in India) is closely linked with aspirations; and aspiration, in turn, is associated with corporates respecting and recognising the need for skilled workers. We are happy that ManpowerGroup is partnering with us in recruiting our skilled trainees. We look forward to placing over 5,000 trainees this year from our ecosystem.”
