The Gujarat Government has announced the Vibrant Gujarat Startup and Technology Summit - 2018 to be held from October 11-13 in Gandhinagar.
The second edition of this biennial summit aims to strengthen start-up ecosystem in the State by bringing together policy makers, mentor organisations, investors and venture capitalists and incubators on one common platform.
"The objective is to showcase the State support for start-ups. The second edition will bring many more new features and attractions,” said MK Das, principal secretary, Industries and Mines, Government of Gujarat, while announcing the event, which will see participation from across the country.
A major attraction of the summit is the 'Grand Challenge', which involves total prize money of ₹3 crore to be distributed among 44 start-ups in different categories. Top 25 qualifying ideas will get ₹10,000 each, while in the blooming stage, where startups will have ready product/service three prizes of total ₹6 lakh will be awarded. In the scale up category, commercialised idea or product of a startup will get first prize of ₹30 lakh. The second, third and fourth prize will be given for ₹27 lakh, ₹25 lakh and ₹22 lakh respectively. There are 12 consolation prizes of ₹12 lakh each.
“There will be extensive discussion and deliberations on the next generation technologies of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Block Chain, Big Data among others. There will be 8 themes for the event, which will include AgriTech, FinTech, Smart & Shared Mobility, Women Centric Solutions, Manufacturing 4.0, Governance 2030, Maritime & Military Intelligence, HealthTech,” said D Thara, Managing Director, GIDC.
The summit is being supported by IndextB, GIDC, GESIA and FICCI. Canada has joined this summit as a partner country. The three-day event at Gandhinagar will have exhibitions, ICT awards, academic and technical sessions besides the Grand Challenge.
