Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) and Japan Foundry Society are joining hands for bringing in cost-effective environment-friendly technologies to local industry players. Ravi Sehgal, Organising Committee Chairman of the 61st Indian Foundry Congress, told Business Line here on Tuesday that an MoU was signed to carry through the cooperation.
“A team of experts from IIF would visit Japan shortly to accelerate relevant technology and equipment-related knowledge sharing,” Sehgal said.
In the next step, a few pilot plants might be set up using the Japanese technologies and funding windows, he added.
According to him, IIF has over 3,000 members, of which some 10 per cent are ready to adopt green and upgraded technologies. In next couple of years, West Bengal’s upcoming Foundry Park in Howrah district may see an investment of at least Rs 600 crore.
