The Centre has appointed the Kochi-based Institute of Small Enterprise and Development as institutional associate to the Prabhat Kumar Committee on MSME Policy.
In February, former Cabinet Secretary Prabhat Kumar was appointed by the Prime Minister to a high power government Committee. This Committee is tasked with reviewing the policy and practice of MSME development and to make recommendations on future policy directions.
ISED, as a policy expert, has the responsibility of research and analysis and to help the Committee to shape its final recommendations. It will coordinate its operations from New Delhi, and from its head quarters in Kochi, Director PM Mathew said.
Earlier, the institute served in several governmental policy bodies such as the Dr SP Gupta Committee on Development of Small Enterprises at the Planning Commission, and the Consultative Group on the Unorganised sector at the Prime Minister's Office.
