Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Wednesday launched a new-look XUV500 for the South Indian market in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The company, which had introduced the SUV in 2011, had managed to create a buzz booking out its capacity for over 16-18 months in the very first month.

It has since been selling over 3,000 units of the XUV500 per month.

“With the introduction of the new SUV with enhanced features and roll out of new models, we expect to increase our market share,” Ashish Malik, Vice-President, Marketing, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd, said.

Addressing a media conference after the launch of the vehicle, he said, “More than one lakh units were on the road within three years of its launch. The new launch aims to take it to the next level, where a number of features have been incorporated taking customer feedback.”

Pawan Goenka, Executive Director of M&M, had recently outlined the company plans to introduce nine models during the current fiscal, which includes two all new compact Sports Utility Vehicles and refreshed models of exiting vehicles.

“We are confident that the New Age XUV500 with its bold new exterior styling, plush interiors and features will further strengthen the brand appeal and up the ante on the premium quotient of the vehicle, thereby making it an instant hit with customers,” he said.

Stating that South Indian market contributes in a big way to company sales, he hoped it would be able to target both sedans and utility vehicles in its segment with added features.
