Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa will soon make an announcement on setting up of a new medical college at Nagapattinam, Fisheries Minister K.A. Jayapal has said.
“We can expect a favourable announcement in this regard soon,” he said at a function at Nagapattinam District Headquarters Hospital here yesterday.
The Minister said the Nagapattinam GH is equipped with all facilities and on an average more than 5,000 out-patients are visiting the hospital everyday.
“During 2012-13, nearly 18,000 surgeries were performed and 1.27 lakh people have received treatment as in-patients,” he said.
District Collector T. Munusamy presided over the function.
