The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has decided not to hike power tariffs in the city for the third consecutive year. In an official statement, the DERC said there was “no change in the energy charge for all categories.” According to the statement, the fixed charges methodology has been revised for domestic category up to 5 kW from ₹ per month basis to ₹ per kW per month basis.

Fixed charges The fixed charge for consumers with up to 200 units of consumption with a 1 kW connection has been halved to ₹20 per month from ₹40 per month, while the fixed charge for consumers using up to 400 units has been kept flat at ₹40 per month for a 2 kW sanctioned load.

For domestic consumers with individual connections of less than 25 kW, the power tariff has been left at ₹4/unit for up to 200 units of consumption. The tariff is ₹8.75/unit for up to 1,200 units of consumption. DERC has also created a separate tariff category to promote e-vehicles, under which a flat rate of ₹5.50 per unit has been fixed for charging stations for e-rickshaw and e-vehicles.

The domestic tariff category has also been extended to consumers running small commercial establishments from their households. This benefit will be available to households having sanctioned load up to 5 kW.

Cow shelters or ‘gaushalas’ and paying guest accommodations covered under any scheme of the government of National Capital Territory of Delhi have also been brought under the domestic category.
