NTPC Ltd has been requested to expedite projects in Andhra Pradesh, including setting up of the 4,000 MW plant in Pudimadaka.

The power major has also expressed interest to set up 250 MW solar plant near Guntur. The NTPC delegation headed by Anup Roy Choudhury, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC along with N Mishra, Director (Operations) and A K Jha, Director.(Technical) met N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of AP.

JSV Prasad, Principal Secretary, Industries, G Sai Prasad Secretary to CM,  Ajay Jain, Secretary Energy, Vijayanand MD, APGENCO and CMD APTRANSCO were  present during the meet.

The Principal Secretary, Industries was directed to finalise a suitable site within 15 days, so that NTPC could go ahead with setting up power project.

The Chief Minister also requested NTPC to build up 15 days coal stock at Simhadri plant.

He said that about 200 MW from NTPC Jhajjar and 100 MW from NTPC Barh can be provided to AP immediately.

The Energy Department was directed to avail power from these projects by signing PPAs. It was also decided to avail power from NTPC Farakka on long term basis.

NTPC also agreed to set up a 300 MW solar park in Guntur District through competitive bidding, so that AP can get solar energy at lowest tariff.

This will add green energy to AP’s power portfolio.

NTPC agreed to spare their railway sliding and allow Hinduja power project to take 4 rakes up to their coal yards. It would enable Hinduja to commission their 2X520 MW at the earliest.
