Remote Anjaw district bordering China in Arunachal Pradesh is cut off from rest of the country for the past several days as early monsoon rains disrupted of surface communication to the region.

Official reports on Friday said unprecedented rainfall since March 26 in the hilly district has left a trail of destruction at many places.

Several roads were damaged badly at Tiding, Mompani and Salanggam areas. All drains have been clogged resulting in overtopping of the roads.

The district administration is working round-the-clock with BRO officials to restore surface communication in the district but continuous rainfall, shortage of manpower, trained personnel and machinery have made the restoration process slow, the reports said.

However, BRO officials were hopeful of restoring communication within two days, it said.
