The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Tejinder Khanna in alleged Tatra bribery matter. Khanna was LG between 2007 and 2013.

Though, official statement from the agency did not mention his name, but sources confirmed his name.

The statement said that the CBI has filed a charge sheet under the Prevention of Corruption Act against “a Lieutenant General (Retired) in an alleged offer of bribe on behalf of a private supplier, to then Chief of Army Staff, in connection with procurement of vehicles from a private company”.

Preliminary enquiry

A case was registered on October 19, 2012 against the former LG on a complaint from the then Chief of Army Staff.

The statement added: “In the complaint, the then Chief of Army Staff had alleged that on September 22, 2010, the Lieutenant General (Retired) had offered him a bribe of ₹14 crore on behalf of a private supplier of trucks, to clear the file for procurement of 1676 Tatra HMVs (High Mobility Vehicles) for the Indian Army.” Earlier, a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) was registered on April 11, 2012 on the basis of complaint.

Later, the agency raided 7 locations in Delhi, Noida and Mumbai. The agency said that a charge sheet has been filed after thorough investigation. However, it clarified that charges have been framed on the basis of investigations and evidences collected. “Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial,” the agency reiterated.
