The Telangana Government has introduced the Private Universities Bill, allowing private entities to set up universities in the State amid protests by student unions and Opposition parties.
Introducing the Bill in the Assembly on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the Bill would bring world-class education and research to the State.
Taking part in the discussion on the Bill, MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi said over 1,200 teacher posts were vacant at the State universities.
"TRS MPs stalling Lok Sabha on reservation issue but introducing Private Universities Bill that doesn't provide for reservation," BJP MLA Laxman said.
