The MPs and MLAs of Trinamool Congress will soon meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh demanding waiver of interest on the over Rs two lakh crore debt extended by the Centre to the West Bengal government.
West Bengal government has been demanding for a moratorium on the Rs 22,000-crore interest on loans.
According to West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Ms Mamata Banerjee, her party would wait for some more time to see if their request is kept, before meeting the Prime Minister.
“We have been requesting the Centre to give us a relief from the interest burden for the next three years. We will wait for some more time and if they do not pay heed to our request then, if required, all the MPs and MLAs of my party will go to the Prime Minister,” she said addressing a rally commemorating July 21 as Martyrs’ Day.
