Vijay Retreads, one of the franchisees of the Coimbatore-based Treadsdirect Ltd, has opened its second plant in the State, at Kalamassery. The first plant was in Palakkad.
According to Sudarsan Varadaraj, Chairman and Managing Director, the plant has a capacity to retread more than 1,000 tyres a month, which can be expanded up to 3,000 with additional curing chambers.
The Kochi market has moved over to radials in a big way in the passenger car and LCV segments. The advantage is that radial tyres can be re-treaded.
