The first ‘Zone by The Park’ hotel has opened in Coimbatore.
Launched by Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, the Zone by The Park brand aims to bridge the gap in the Indian hotel market between the burgeoning middle class and international traveller looking for budget travel.
The built-up area of Zone by The Park Coimbatore, located on Avinashi Road, is 50,000 sq feet.
The Park Hotels group has partnered with Saraswathy Enterprisers, promoters of Pazhamudir Nilayam, which has a chain of fresh fruits and vegetable outlets across Tamil Nadu, to establish the hotel.
Dorairaj Chinnaswamy, Managing Partner, Saraswathy Enterprisers. said that as a second generation entrepreneur in the business of fresh fruits and vegetables, he was looking to diversify into newer segments, including hospitality. “This brand is a felt need for Coimbatore,” he said.
The next Zone by The Park project is expected to be launched in Jaipur next month-end.
Santhosh Kutty, General Manager, Development and Operations, Zone by The Park Hotels, said the group plans to operationalise four more hotels in 2015 with the Chennai launch slated for May-June, followed by one at Mahabalipuram in July, Raipur in Chhatisgarh during the third quarter and one in Goa next year.
To a query on hospitality industry, he said, “The market went through turbulent times, but is looking up now. We have a shortage of hotels in the country. The issue though is in the kind of hotel – luxury segment or mid-market.”
