To identify sports talent at the school-level, the Haryana government is mulling enactment of a right to play act on the pattern of the Right to Education Act.
This was stated by Haryana Education and Social Welfare minister Geeta Bhukkal while interacting with mediapersons at her residence in Jhajjar today.
The government is mulling enactment of a right to play act to promote sports activities in the state and identify talent in the field at the school-level itself, she said.
The proposed act, which would be patterned on the Right to Education Act, would ensure participation of every child in sports activities, Bhukkal said.
“Sports is a sign of development and the government is determined to introduce the right to play act and make Haryana a model in sports promotion,” she said.
As many as 224 Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Khel Parisars, each on an area of six acres with outdoor and indoor facilities for 10 to 12 disciplines, were being built up at the block-level in the state, the minister said.
To a question, Bhukkal said the procedure to appoint PG teachers in government schools had been initiated.
A selection board had been set up in this regard, she said adding all vacant posts were likely to be filled by year-end.
“The state government is determined to make Haryana an educational hub.
“Branches of various internationally-famed educational institutes are being set up in the state to enable students to get professional education,” the minister said.
