Yadlapalli Pranjala, a young tennis player from GVK Tennis Academy, has made it into the combined world ranking of 19. The 16-year-old from Hyderabad has received the highest rank ever achieved by an Indian in the ITF juniors’ circuit.
Pranjala made it to the main draw of the Wimbledon junior championships this year.
A student of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Begumpet, Pranjala started playing tennis at the age of 6. Pranjala said, “It’s a great feeling to be the best in the ITF juniors’ circuit from India. But I know there is still a long way to go.”
GVK Reddy, CMD of GVK Group said, “Pranjala has become the pride of the country. She has the potential to bring laurels to the nation and fulfilling her dream of one day playing a Grand Slam and becoming number 1 in world ranking.”
