When you tweet the hashtag #TeamIndia during this World Cup season you will see a special jersey emoji of the Indian cricket team. A tweet with the hashtag #ViratKohli will show a custom emoji for the Indian team captain.
When an Afghanistan cricket fan expresses his support to his team by using #AfghanAtalan and #GulbadinNaib in his/her tweet, the fan will get to see the jersey emoji of the team and an emoji of the Afghan captain.
Twitter has come out with such special jersey emojis for the team and the custom emojis for the captains for all the 10 teams participating in the Cricket World Cup.
A tweet with the hashtag #CWC19 unlocks a special trophy emoji for the tournament. Cricket World Cup is being played in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14.
A press release said here that @ICC and @cricketworldcup official handles will tweet video highlight clips from each game, recapping every match through Twitter’s content partnership with the International Cricket Council. The handles will also be tweeting unique videos, behind the scenes content and interviews with captains, enabling fans to connect with players and experts and learn their favourite plays and moments on Twitter.
Quoting Rahul Pushkarna, Head of Asia Pacific Content Partnerships at Twitter, the release said that fans can catch live updates from their favourite teams, players, coaches, writers, celebrities and fellow fans on Twitter. Twitter has transformed the connection for fans to their favourite sport and athletes in India and across the world, he said.
