When one would have thought that almost all the big automobile brands had set up shop in India, the Chinese are now set to make inroads.
The list includes Great Wall Motors, SAIC Motor and Changan Auto and it will be interesting to see how different States roll out the red carpet in terms of fiscal goodies. More recently, reports have been doing the rounds that Kia Motors will soon announce its India plans which means setting up an all-new plant. Experts believe that Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh will be the frontrunners even as Tamil Nadu is still the monarch as home to some of the biggest brands like Ford, Hyundai, BMW, Renault-Nissan and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles. Gujarat bagged Tata Motors’ Nano project followed quickly by Ford and Maruti Suzuki. Andhra Pradesh has been the latest to join the auto race.
