PSU KSIE pays Rs 6-lakh dividend to Govt Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Aug 15 THE public sector Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE) has declared a dividend of Rs 6 lakh payable for year 2001-02 to the State Government. A cheque for the amount was handed over by the KSIE Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Varghese Mathew, to the Industries Minister, Mr P.K. Kunhalikkutty, in the presence of the Principal and Expenditure Secretaries, Finance. This is the third consecutive year that the company has paid a dividend to the Government. The net profit for 2001-02 has registered a 600 per cent rise to Rs 91.49 lakh from Rs 12.59 lakh the previous year, a company spokesman said. Ex gratia payouts: Employees of the Kollam United Electrical Company will receive bonus and ex gratia of 28.33 per cent, it has been officially announced. A decision to this effect was finalised at a meeting chaired by the Labour Minister, Mr Babu Divakaran. All those who come within the purview of the Bonus Act, inclusive of officers, will receive a bonus of Rs 8,500 and a performance allowance of Rs 1,500. As per the provisions of the scheme, almost 333 employees will be entitled to receive an aggregate of Rs 10,000 during the coming Onam festival season. In another decision, the State Government has said that employees of the 37 private factories, a plantation estate and three public sector units which are lying closed, will receive an ex gratia/festival allowance of Rs 1,000 each. The district labour officers have been authorised to disburse these amounts and 979 employees are expected to benefit from the scheme. Ex gratia at Malabar Cements: All permanent employees of the public sector Malabar Cements will receive an ex gratia at the rate 22 per cent during this Onam festival season. As per the terms of understanding reached between employees and the management, casual employees will be entitled for an ex gratia of 38 per cent. At least 935 permanent employees and 123 others falling under the casual and contract sectors will benefit from the scheme, an official spokesman said. The understanding was reached at a meeting chaired by Mr Divakaran, and attended among others by the Labour Commissioner, Mr S. Srinivasan, the Additional Labour Commissioner, Mr K.N. Mohanan, and representatives of the management and employees.
