CAT Centre, a Hyderabad-based information technology training and software company, having 130 branches in Andhra Pradesh, is set to acquire a 50 per cent stake in HDB Inc, an IT consulting company based in the US.

According to Mr P. Kiran Kumar, MD of the CAT Centre, the tie-up with the US company will pave the way for bringing more investments into Andhra Pradesh.

The company wants to diversify into tourism promotion and agro-exports and also plans to open offices in Dubai and the US this year. Of the two Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Malaysia, the company has entered into a tie-up with PutraNet to provide consultancy services.

It has developed products such as On-line Banking, ATM Software, E-learning and MarketMap and the last one offers IT solutions through Geographical Information System (GIS).

Mr Kiran Kumar said the MarketMap consisted of databases of all villages in Andhra Pradesh and other States barring those in North-East and highlighted opportunities in uncovered and inadequately covered markets, cost-effective locations for warehouses and pinpointed target areas for sales promotion among others.
