HYDERABAD, Feb. 18

THE Uranium Corporation of India, a Government of India undertaking, has applied for mining lease with the Mines and Geology Department of the Andhra Pradesh Government, and plans are underway to establish a hydro-metallurgical plant to process the raw ore.

Following surveys in the State, uranium deposits have been explored by the Atomic Minerals Division of Uranium Corporation of India in Peddagutta area of P.A. Pally mandal in the Nalgonda district of the State. The total ore reserve is estimated at about 11 million tonnes.

Consequently, the Uranium Corporation has applied for grant of mining lease for their Lambapur — Pedagutta Uranium project in Nalgonda district.
