Sree Krishna Sweets to waft its flavour beyond Indian shores

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , May 30

THE south Indian sweets flavour is all set to cross borders, with the city-based Sree Krishna Sweets (SKS) spreading its wings in the US .

SKS has finalised a deal by signing up with a venture partner to begin operations in the US. `The venture is subject to the US Government's clearance to the proposal,' Mr M. Krishnan, Managing Director, SKS, told Business Line.

SKS has floated a separate company, Sree Krishna Sweets (US) Inc, for the purpose. The legalities (registration of the new entity) came through last week.

Mr Krishnan said that the equity base of SKS (US) stood at $1 million, of which the Indian promoter's stake was 60 per cent. When asked about the road map, Mr Krishnan said `we would like to go wherever we are wanted. But we have fixed no target. In the US, (subject to permission), we intend to open two or three retail outlets. We have finalised the deal for opening shop at Los Angeles and San Hose. These should become functional in another three months,' the SKS MD said.

He said that there were enquiries from Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore and the company was exploring the possibility of entering these markets as well.
