SUPPORTING the cause of education for children taken up by the Round Table India, a group of Dutch Round Tablers have embarked on an adventurous road journey with their families and friends.

According to the representative of Netherlands Round Table, Ms Esther, the `Dutch Round Table Tour for Children 2004' would pass through China, Nepal, India, West Asia and Europe before returning to the Netherlands.

"The tour is supporting 45 school building projects of Round Table India, through a contribution of Rs 74 lakh. In India, we are helping to build schools in Delhi, Nagpur, Hubli, Pune and Hyderabad," Ms Esther told reporters here on Wednesday.

The tour delegates would be in India between July 7 and August 12 passing through the cities where they have supported the projects. During their stay at Hyderabad, they would visit the schools that were built at Somangurti, Alur and Bashirabad.

According the Member of the Committee for Freedom through Education of Round Table India, Mr P. Ramesh Kumar, the three schools to be visited by the delegates were built at a total cost of around Rs 21 lakh. The funds for construction of these schools were provided by MV Foundation, a renowned non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the child rights protection, members of the Dutch World Tour and three of the Round Tables of the twin cities, he said.

Mr Ramesh Kumar said Round Table India is now building 1,500 schools at a cost of Rs 180 crore by the year 2008. So far, the Round Tablers could built more than 500 schools, he said.
