Recruitment agencies form association in Hyderabad

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Aug. 11

PROFESSIONAL recruitment firms have joined hands under the banner Executive Recruiters Association (ERA), to find ways of streamlining the job market, especially in the New Economy sector, which is witnessing a boom.

A mismatch in demand and supply exists especially in the information technology (IT) sector, where professionals with 2-3 years experience in any technology are needed in large numbers. Similar is the case with the BPO sector, where spoken English language skills are required and thousands of jobs are up for grabs. In this background, poaching by companies and difficulties encountered by them to find suitable talent has become routine.

Against this background, ERA, based in Mumbai, with about 80 members, has found its echo in Hyderabad too, with about a dozen agencies forming a local chapter.

The association seeks to provide a forum for members, to share information and work together to advance the interest of executive recruitment. Corporates could enquire with consultants if they are members of ERA to ensure quality of service and ethical practices, according to Mr M.R. Shantaram, Convenor of the Hyderabad Chapter.

The need for good people is so pressing that companies are using every method possible to acquire the required talent. They advertise, headhunt, conduct campus interviews and yet use a large number of recruitment consultants, he said in a statement.

Due to this rush, a large number of recruitment consulting firms have sprung up, many of them `Mom and Pop' shops.
