CHENNAI: Sify Ltd has said it has implemented the DomainKey authentication system in SifyMail to help prevent spamming and mail forgery.

The DomainKey system will enable Sify and other e-mail providers to verify the domain of each e-mail sender and the authenticity of his or her messages before admitting them, to help stop spam or fraudulent mail from reaching users, according to a Sify press release.

The release said SifyMail was among the first commercial e-mail servers to implement DomainKeys. All mails sent out from Sify's mail servers would now be digitally signed. Any other mail server that implements the Domain Keys technology would be able to verify the authenticity of mails from Sify's mail servers.
