Bangalore , Oct. 20

SAMSUNG India Electronics has launched World Cyber Games 2005 in association with the Mumbai-based game developer Indiagames.

In this event, gamers from over 75 countries are expected to contest against each other in games such as Counter Strike, Warcraft, FIFA Football, Warhammer and Need For Speed (NFS).

"We expect 1.25 million gamers to participate in the event," said Mr Mihir Tewari, Business Head - IT Exports & Marketing, Samsung India.

The contest includes team as well as individual games. Also supporting the event is Sify's i-Way chain of cyber cafes.

Preliminaries are being held across eight cities in India between October 13 and 31, and were kicked off at the capital.

They are being held in Bangalore on Thursday and Friday (October 20-21). The finals will be held in Singapore between November 16 and 20.
