Uphill task

AN OLD WOMAN, who was employed in the Pasumala tea estate in Idukki district, carries water from a pit at the base of the hill to her dwelling above the hill. She lost her job when the owners abandoned the estate after tea prices crashed. When the estate functioned, water was pumped to the labour quarters at the top of the hill. Now the women have to carry the water uphill.
