Outlook Oracle plans presence in non-metros L.N. Revathy
Coimbatore , April 21 Oracle India is all set to strengthen its presence in non-metro cities. It is planning to expand its base from the existing six locations (including metros) to 15 cities by May 12. The target cities include Coimbatore, Kochi, Vishakapatnam, and Chandigarh. The company is planning to tag more cities on to the list next year. Mr Anup Varma, Regional Director (Mid Market Technology-Sales), said that the company strengthened its presence by posting its first employee in the targeted city and not by establishing an office or centre. "The hired Oracle representative will enhance service and support. He is hooked to our database, our network. He actually acts as a client server. Our partners (numbering eight in this region) have the domain knowledge to address the needs of the industry and the technical knowledge of the company's product offerings," he told Business Line. On setting up an office and expanding the team size, he said: "At this juncture, I do not see the need for more people. But I am not ruling out the possibility either.""We are looking at addressing the needs of the textile sector and the engineering companies here," Mr Varma said.
