Hyderabad March 5 Infotech Enterprises Ltd, an engineering and geographical information services (GIS) services provider, is now eyeing the growing opportunity in automotive and marine engineering services.

Mr B. Ashok Reddy, Executive Vice-President, said that the company has significant presence in the defence and aerospace engineering services, working with the likes of United Technologies, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Alstom.

It is now keen on expanding the business in the automotive and marine engineering services with a focus on avionics and embedded software development.

Speaking about company plans, Mr Reddy said that Infotech has grown from some 800 people in 1999 to about 5,500 people currently.

It is poised to hit the $120-million mark in revenues this fiscal from $83 million last fiscal.

The company continues to expand its operations across locations by creating new office facilities and other support infrastructure, but Mr Reddy refrained from commenting on the number of human resource additions. During the year, the company is poised for over 35 per cent growth.

Infotech recently commissioned a facility at the STPI incubation unit in Kakinada for GIS operations and is close to commissioning its facility in Vizag, which could focus on marine engineering services.

The Hyderabad campus, which would have initial hosting capacity of about 1,500 people, is likely to be commissioned in April this year.

Another major centre now coming up in the Electronic City near Bangalore would be ready by the year-end, he said.

The company expansion has meant strengthening the management capability while inducting people for onsite work. This has meant bringing in a right mix of cross-cultural talent.

The company has also managed to keep the attrition rate low at about 11 per cent, compared to the industry average of 16-17 per cent. "This has been possible by offering them right compensation and career progression opportunity."

Infoetch is also considering the option of establishing an Institute of Aerospace and Engineering Services in partnership with institutions.
