Bangalore June 18

Cranes Software International Ltd has acquired the US-based Dunn Solutions Group (DSG) and the Pune-based Tilak AutoTech (TAT) in Rs 70 crore deal.

DSG, a technology consultancy with expertise in intellectual properties (IPs)/products in enterprise analytics, focussed on business intelligence (BI), and enterprise level knowledge management, was acquired for Rs 60 crore. Whereas, TAT focused on automotive embedded products and solutions for development of embedded engine control modules was acquired for Rs 10 crore.

Tracking the buyout news, Cranes shares edged up to an intraday high of Rs 133.95, before closing at Rs 132.90, a gain of 4.32 per cent over the previous close. Mr Asif Khader, Managing Director, Cranes, said both the acquisitions were funded from internal accruals. The two-buyouts, which are profitable, would reflect in the June quarter balance sheet, he said. The last reported revenues of DSG were around $8 million, while that of TAT were less than $1 million.

DSG would enhance Crane's product suite and customer reach for the scientific data analysis and enterprise analytics business spaces. While Dunn is currently working on a proportion of revenue streams from the solutions space, they have a suite of methodologies that can be upgraded as wrap around modules to the products such as Systat and Sigma suite.

The acquisition of TAT will provide more depth in the design and development of embedded electronics, not only in the auto industry but also in re-engineered dated chip designs, to more contemporary performance expectations and specification, Mr Khader said. "Dunn solutions will help us gain significant client penetration in banking and insurance, healthcare, education and government sectors. The TAT buy-out advances our presence in the area of embedded Software and Controls solutions. Coupled with the market reach that dSpace provides us with its customers such as Daimler Chrysler, Ford, GM, TAT will help us leverage our value added consulting expertise to include embedded systems designs," he said.
