Adobe targets schools

Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct. 21 Adobe Systems has announced new licensing options and certification programmes for schools and technical institutes. As part of this initiative, combinations of 13 Adobe multimedia products including Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator and PremierePro would be made available in the form of suites (packages) under three broad categories — design, Web and video applications.

The design suite of products will equip candidates to design collage, photos, create logos, advertisements, brochures and portfolios while the Web suite will help create online banners, animation, design client sites and host Web videos. The video suite will enable candidates to capture and create action events, news stories, mini documentaries and make DVD portfolios.

The K-12 licences for schools are priced between Rs 72,000 and Rs 2.10 lakh per school and can support up to 500 computers including home access rights for teachers in that school. This life-long licence does not include maintenance and upgrade charges. The licence for technical institutes and universities starts at about Rs 2.5 lakh including maintenance and upgrade costs and is valid for a year.
