Call for periodic IT security audit

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Nov. 2 Periodic audit of information security systems is a must for financial institutions in view of increasing cyber crimes, according to Mr Vepa Kamesam, Managing Director, Institute of Insurance and Risk Management (IIRM).

He was delivering his inaugural address at the regional technical meet at Andhra Mahila Sabha School of Informatics here on Friday.

Mr Kamesam said problems like unauthorised access to information, loss or modification of confidential data and virus and hackers’ attacks should properly addressed by the banks and other financial institutions.

“For the last one decade our dependence on computers for day-to-day financial transactions grew rapidly. Despite increasing awareness, security threat never becomes obsolete.”

The two-day meet would deliberate on a range of issues such as RFID technology and wireless network security, among others.
