Our Bureau Hyderabad, Nov. 15 In tune with the changing requirements of enterprises, IT solutions provider Satyam Computer has announced a new software as a service (SaaS) delivery approach specifically targeting the small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). The company believes that this model complements its existing association with large enterprises for whom Satyam provides business transformational services. The Director and Senior Vice-President of Satyam Manufacturing and Automotive Business, Mr Subu D. Subramanian, said that SMBs are among the fastest growing segments in developing economies and need to address technology holistically to stay competitive. Preferred areasMr Subu told Business Line “from a global perspective we expect to offer Saas services initially to enterprises in the US and Asia Pacific region and follow this up with other markets. Typically, areas such as supply chain management, and customer relationship management would be initially preferred, followed by other services. “These services are designed to ensure lower cost of ownership. Unlike the packaged application model, most of these companies require customisation to meet their requirements. As a systems integrator, we draw upon deep domain expertise and help them transition and transform their business processes,” he said. As a part of this initiative, Satyam is partnering with Nasscom and Fapsia (Federation of Andhra Pradesh Small Industries’ Association) to promote IT adoption among small enterprises. The company would provide a Web-based enterprise application platform to help these enterprises run operations such as sales, purchase, production, shipment, finance and accounting.
