Polycom sets up development centre

Hyderabad, Nov. 27. Polycom Inc, the $1-billion revenue company, has announced investments of over $5 million at its India Development Centre (IDC) in Hyderabad.

Billed as the company’s first fully owned, fully grown development centre outside the US, the IDC has 70 engineers at present.

According to Mr Sunil Bhalla, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Voice Division, Polycom, said the centre would focus on developing patentable technologies and products.

The areas would be voice, mobile and Wifi solutions to begin with.

The company plans to hike staff strength to over 100. The centre has a capacity to house 160 engineers.

Mr Anurag Garg, head of IDC, said a latest lab, which would house the range of Polycom devices for interoperability and testing, would be ready soon.
