BT in talks with new entrants to form industry body

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 17 BT has initiated talks with other long distance communication service providers in the country to form an industry association. The move is primarily aimed at taking up issues relevant to new entrants to the long distance telephony segment with the Government.

A number of new companies have forayed into this segment over the past few months. “While existing operators are part of some industry body, the new entrants in the segment do not have an association, which could represent their concerns to the Government. We plan to initiate discussion with other new players to set up a new association in this regard,” said Mr Gordon Moir, The Chief Counsel and Global Regulatory Head of BT Global Services.
