KE-Burgmann to launch metal, rubber expansion joints

Chennai, March 6 The Chennai-based KE-Burgmann Flexibles India Private Ltd (KBFIL), the wholly owned subsidiary of KE-Burgmann A/S of Denmark, will soon be introducing metal and rubber expansion joints targeting power plants, petrochemical and other process industries.

‘Expansion joint’ is a flexible connection installed in a pipe or duct carrying high temperature gas or liquid, and allow resisting thermal shocks, vibration and pressure, thereby preventing damage to the installations.

Addressing the media, the CEO of KE-Burgmann Group, Mr Peter Lenborg Nielsen, said the report on the market study on introducing new products would be ready by June.

Towards this the company would be doubling the capacity of its Chennai facility to make 200 units per month envisaging an outlay of €1 million.

Last year it set up its second facility in Raipur with a capacity to make 50 units per month, he said. So far the KE-Burgmann Group has invested about €4 million in Indian operations, he added. In 2007, KBFIL reported a turnover of Rs 17 crore and it would grow six-fold after the capacity expansion.

At present, KBFIL has been manufacturing fabric expansion joints at its Chennai and Raipur facilities catering to a host of clients including ABB, BPCL, L&T, Madras Cements, MSEB, NTPC, ONGC and Reliance group. Recently, the company received a Rs 6-crore order from BHEL.
