ISB likely to set up 70-acre campus in Mohali

G. Naga Sridhar

Hyderabad, March 19 Indian School of Business (ISB) is likely to set up its second campus in Mohali and is in talks with the Punjab Government for acquiring land.

“We are in the advanced stage of talks with the Punjab Government and something concrete might come up in about a month,” Mr M. Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, told Business Line here on Wednesday.

The Hyderabad-based premier business school is pitching for about 70 acres of land which is likely to be considered by the Punjab Government. However, ISB is keen on getting the land with “no strings” attached. “It is not that the land will be offered free-of-cost to us. Even in Hyderabad, we were given land at a reasonable cost. Apart from this, we do not like to commit any thing that can impact autonomous functioning from our side” the Dean said.

ISB would be willing to oblige any demands from the Government such as a position on ISB’s board or any say in fixation of fees, etc., he explained.

The nature of courses to be offered in the proposed campus, Mr Rao said in addition to what is being offered at ISB, Hyderabad, would be infrastructure education and public health.

“The number of students would be a little less than our Hyderabad campus initially,” he added.

At present, ISB has 425 students here.
