Air India’s joint venture plan referred to panel

New Delhi, Dec. 4 A proposal to allow National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL) to set up joint venture companies with Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd has been referred to the Committee of Secretaries.

The joint venture companies were for ground handling and cargo operations at various airports across India. The Minister of Science and Technology, Mr Kapil Sibal, told newspersons here after the Cabinet meeting that “The Cabinet discussed the issue and decided to refer it to the committee of secretaries.”

The proposal mooted by Air India to set up four joint ventures with the Singaporean company is aimed at providing professional expertise to build, operate and maintain cargo facility while also achieving outstanding domestic and international cargo operations.
