Our Bureau Hyderabad, Feb. 5 The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has filed a petition in a city court on Thursday seeking permission to question the former Chairman of Satyam Computer Services, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, in connection with the Rs 7,136- crore financial fraud. In its petition filed before the VI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, the SFIO has also requested the court to allow its officials to question the former CEO, Mr B. Rama Raju, and the ex-CFO, Mr Vadlamani Srinivas. Citing a report submitted by the Registrar of Companies, Andhra Pradesh, which is also probing the Satyam fraud, the SFIO petition submitted to the court stated that the financial statements, statutory returns and records of Satyam Computer prima facie contain ‘serious misstatements’. “There is a possibility of the affairs of the company having been conducted in a fraudulent manner,” the petition said. The Magistrate, Mr D. Ramakrishna, has posted the matter for hearing on February 6. SEBI PROBEMeanwhile, a team of investigating officials from the Securities and Exchange Board of India grilled Mr Ramalinga Raju and his brother Mr Rama Raju for the second consecutive day at the Chanchalguda jail. “There are two teams of SEBI quizzing the Raju brothers. The questioning was done today during the office hours with tea and lunch breaks,” the Jail Superintendent told Business Line. The jail officials were not present during the questioning, he added. SEBI is probing into various aspects of Satyam fraud, including insider trading, diversion of funds and misleading financial statement. PRICE WATERHOUSEPrice Waterhouse partners Mr S. Gopalakrishnan and Mr Talluri Srinivas, who were in police custody for two days, were produced in the court today and were sent to Chanchalguda jail. Their judicial custody ends on Friday.
