Pranab to present Budget on July 6

New Delhi, June 15

The Union Cabinet on Monday decided to recommend to the President, Ms Pratibha Patil, that the Budget session of Parliament be convened from July 2.

The Budget session is expected to end on August 7. Accordingly, the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, will present the General Budget for 2009-10 on July 6.

The Railway Budget would be presented on July 3, an official release issued after the Cabinet meeting said. This is the first General and Railway Budgets of the new UPA Government that recently assumed office after the elections to the 15th Lok Sabha.
