Error in displaying date, time

I have a P III ( 850 MHz) system with 20 GB hard disk, 64 MB RAM and Windows 98 OS. My system displays the date and time as January 2000 and 12.00 a.m.

When I change the system date and time in the control panel, it works, but when I shut down for a few minutes and then start my computer, it displays the old date and time. How do I solve this problem? Please suggest a solution.

It is clear that your system battery has become weak. All you have to do is remove the system battery from the mother board and replace it with a similar one.

It will be a good idea to take the worn-out battery with you to make sure you buy the right battery for your board. Removing and replacing the battery is simple. It's much like how you would do it for your calculators or watches today.

It is also possible that the battery is not properly fixed into its casing. You can check this out before making the replacement. Please try removing and re-fixing the battery.
