Job opportunities in India have declined over the last one year, according to a survey conducted by online job portal Monster.com .
The Monster Employment Index India is a monthly measureof online job posting activity based on a real-time review of information culled from a selection of career Web sites and online job listings across the country.
Monster Employment Index has declined 9 per cent year-over-year.
The report said Printing/Packaging recorded the steepest annual decline (-39 per cent) in September, followed by Media and Entertainment (-32 per cent) on a year-on-year basis.
Hiring at the senior management level was least during the month, and declined by 49 per cent as against September 2012, followed by Arts /Creative (-31 per cent) and Engineering/ Production (-16 per cent). Hiring of Health Care professionals was up 7 per cent.
“The annual decline in the Index is reflective of the current uncertain economic and political scenario. Employers continue to adopt a cautious approach while hiring,” Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India) said.
Positives
On the positive side, the job portal said that of the 27 sectors monitored, four registered expansion in online recruitment activity between September last year and September 2013.
While online recruitment activity of Import/ Export sector were up 12 per cent, Education was up 5 per cent, followed by Healthcare, Bio Technology and Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals sectors(up 4 per cent) so far during the period.
