Lycos, one of the oldest search engines, is coming out with two products – a wristband and a ring – that promise to be a master key to access your digital avatar.

Lycos Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Suresh Reddy said the devices are like a Mission Control that takes charge of your digital life.

The sensors on the wearables can identify you by taking note of the way you move around. Lycos is making a kind of a comeback to the internet world with Internet of Things (IoT) devices on Monday. Bought by a Hyderabad-based digital marketing solutions firm Ybrant Digital last year, Lycos has just started a products division called Lycos Life to focus on IoT devices.

It entered into a manufacturing agreement with a Chinese firm.

“We are going to exclusively ship the products through Amazon,” said. Talking on the attributes of the wearables at pre-launch event here on Friday, he said the firm would sell the gadgets in the US and Indian markets for now.

While the wristband is priced at $124.99, ring is priced at $59.99. Prices might vary for Indian market. The wearables run on specially developed apps. For now, the firm is launching apps for Android devices.

“We can manage our time better using these devices,” Brad Cohen, President and Chief Strategy Officer of Lycos, said. The devices will also allow users to automatically monitor their activity, sleep, heart rate, incoming calls, and important notifications from their phone completely hands-free.
