Capexil N-E chapter likely by month-end

Our Bureau

KOLKATA, Jan. 10

THE proposed North-East Chapter of Capexil, to be located in Guwahati, is expected to become operational by the end of this month or early February.

Trade sources aver that the Chapter may fulfil the much-felt need for a trade promotion body in the North-East, which can act as a real interface between entrepreneurs of the region and the Union Government.

Talking to Business Line here on Friday, Mr S.K. Ray, Executive Director of the council, said a separate managing committee was being formed, which may comprise the Chairman of the council, Mr M.F. Vohra, and another senior representative, two elected members of local industry associations, the zonal DGFT and a representative of the Export Promotion (Chemicals and Allied Products) Division of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

He said ITPO would also have sufficient representation on the managing committee of the Chapter.
